Aidan Tierney has worked at IBM Canada for over 6 years, where he has been a senior front-end developer, web accessibility specialist and is now a senior accessibility consultant. His work spanned many sectors including banking, government and travel.
As a web accessibility specialist Aidan delivered accessibility solutions with the IBM Human Ability and Accessibility Center for clients in the financial and government sectors. He helped clients to implement web standards: W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), IBM Web Accessibility Checklist and U.S. Section 508. Aidan designed and conducted accessibility assessments using automated and manual testing techniques: WebKing, aDesigner, ZoomText and JAWS. And he created assessment reports, remediation plans, and training for customers and IBM employees.
While at IBM Aidan has worked for a list of clients that includes Air Canada, TD Bank Financial Group, Scotiabank, RBC, Government of Ontario, Government of Canada, Sony, and The Egyptian Museum and the Supreme Council of Antiquities of Egypt.
Aidan Tierney is also QuietNorth’s principal instructor and founder. He has over 11 years’ experience teaching yoga, and has been studying yoga for over 20 years.
Aidan has taught at the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres (ISYVC) in Toronto, and Chennai, and at their ashrams in India and Quebec. He is part of the faculty for Sivananda Teacher Training Courses. He taught yoga at IBM for 3 years, and at gyms and other centres.
Aidan has also trained in mind body interventions at the Harvard Medical School Department of Continuing Education and the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine with Dr. Herbert Benson, Peg Baim and Dr Ann Webster. The Revolutionary Practice of Mind Body Medicine.
Aidan is a Toronto native, speaks Spanish, and is an accomplished actor and photographer.
