Currently based in Los Angeles, Nicolas Citton is a prolific creator and writer of film and television projects. He graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2001, with a Double Major in Film and English. That same year, he began creating a comedy series, THIS SPACE FOR RENT, along with his good friend and colleague, producer JASON JAMES. After being developed as part of the National Screen Institute’s Totally Television Program, the show was broadcast on CBC Television, and nominated for numerous awards.
In 2007, Nicolas completed his Masters at Columbia University’s Graduate Film Program. Over that time he wrote several shorts for fellow directors, including CAL THE LESSER (dir. Jack Paglen, 2003), THE OLD MONTREAL (dir. Marshall Lewy, 2004), and SEEING YOU IN CIRCLES (dir. Sam McConnell, 2005), all of which successfully toured film festivals around the world.
He was given the Simon Kinberg Award for Excellence in Screenwriting, and two Faculty Selects Awards, for his feature script BOYS FROM CITIES AND TOWNS, and the short film TWOYOUNGMEN, UT.
Upon moving to Los Angeles, Nicolas began developing his second television pilot, LUST FOR LIFE, with CBC Comedy. Nicolas currently has several projects in development, including THAT BURNING FEELING (official selection of the CFC/Just for Laughs Comedy Lab, 2009) and HEY, HEY JOHNNY (official selection of the Film Independent Writers’ Lab and Producer’s Lab, 2010).
