Biography

Sylvie Gilbert dirige le fonds Stratégie numérique du Conseil des arts du Canada. Active dans la communauté des arts visuels pendant plus de 25 ans, elle a travaillé avec des centaines d’artistes, a organisé un grand nombre d’expositions, de publications et de conférences. Elle a occupé des postes de direction et de conservation à la Walter Phillips Gallery et au Banff International Curatorial Institute du Banff Centre ainsi qu’à la galerie du Centre des arts Saidye Bronfman à Montréal (maintenant SBC galerie d'art contemporain). Avant de se joindre au Conseil en 2013, elle a dirigé le développement du dépôt numérique e-Artexte du centre de documentation Artexte ainsi que le projet d’immobilisation de l’organisme au sein du complexe culturel 2-22 à Montréal.

Sylvie Gilbert is the Director of the Canada Council for the Arts’ Digital Strategy Fund. Her active involvement in the visual arts community for more than 25 years has included the organization of numerous exhibitions, publications and conferences. She has worked with hundreds of artists and previously served as a director or curator in several leading arts institutions: the Walter Phillips Gallery and the Banff International Curatorial at the Banff Centre in Alberta, and the former Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts Gallery (now the SBC Gallery of Contemporary Art) in Montreal. Prior to joining the Canada Council in 2013, she was the director of Artexte documentation centre in Montreal where she lead both the development of its e-Artexte digital repository and its property development project in the 2-22 cultural complex.
