CFC in LA – Celebrating Strong US/Canadian Partnerships

Connect, Collaborate, Create, was the theme of a reception CFC hosted in Los Angles on March 6th at The Avalon Hotel, Beverly Hills. The event toasted North/South relationships – including the mentors and participants of the Telefilm Canada Features Comedy Lab, chaired by Eugene Levy, and the Bell Media Showrunner Bootcamp.
More than 150 guests attended the reception hosted by CFC FounderNorman Jewison, Executive Director Slawko Klymkiw, Steven Gaydos & Variety, and Russell Peters on behalf of Eugene Levy. CFC celebrated with some of Canada's best and brightest talent working south of the border, including actors Nia Vardalos, Jessica Paré, Natasha Henstridge, Megan Follows, Alan Thicke, Henry Czerny, Ben Bass, Wendell Meldrum, Valerie Mahaffey, David Sutcliffe, comedians Scott Thompson, Dave Foley, Tom Green, Harland Williams, and filmmakers Jason Reitman, Donald Petrie, Daniel Goldberg, Joe Medjuck, Ron Yerxa, Kirsten Smith, Peter Stebbings, Brad Peyton, and many more.
The reception was held in conjunction with the L.A.-based module of the third year of Telefilm Canada Features Comedy Lab that gave filmmakers the opportunity to work with and meet a stellar lineup of American and Canadian comedy professionals to advance their feature comedy scripts.
New creative and business models like the Telefilm Canada Features Comedy Lab, the Bell Media Showrunner Bootcamp, the NBC Universal Content Creator Program, and the CFC North South Marketplace are initiatives that further strengthen Canada's place in the global entertainment marketplace. CFC is committed to creating opportunities, unique collaborations and connections for Canada's talent and our alumni that extend beyond our borders.
