​Congratulations to Alumni and Mentor Genie Award Nominees

CFC would like to extend congratulations to alumni Thomas Wallner ('02), Patrick Crowe ('02) and Producer Mentor Christina Piovesan on their recent Genie Award nominations.

The Guantanamo Trap

Wallner and Crowe have received a nomination for "Best Feature Length Documentary" for THE GUANTANAMO TRAP. The Guantanamo Trap tells the stories of four people whose lives have been irrevocably changed by the Guantanamo Bay Detention Centre.The film had its World Premiere at the Hot Docs Film festival this past Spring.
The Whistleblower

Piovesan received a "Best Picture" nomination for her feature film THE WHISTLEBLOWER. The film received a total of 6 nominations including "Best Director" (Larysa Kondracki) and "Best Actress" (Rachel Weisz).

THE WHISTLEBLOWER is a drama based on the experiences of Kathryn Bolkovac (Weisz), a Nebraska cop who served as a peacekeeper in post-war Bosnia and outed the U.N. for covering up a sex scandal.
