On Wednesday, September 10, 2014 CFC hosted an intimate reception celebrating our more than 45 alumni represented this year at TIFF.
“It is a tremendous achievement to have our alumni work recognized by a world-class organization such as TIFF,” said Slawko Klymkiw, CEO, CFC. “And it says even more when both the media and public rave about the films. The CFC experience is about launching careers and clearly establishing that our Canadian talent and creative leaders are competitive internationally.”
Two CFC shorts had their world premieres at TIFF 2014: STILL, from director Slater Jewell Kemker, writer Kaveh Mohabbi and producers Courtney Bainbridge and Jonathan Bronfman; and WHAT DOESN’T KILL YOU,from director Rob Grant, writer Stu Marks and producers Luke Black and Peter Harvey.
In addition, Preggoland, a project developed through our Telefilm Canada Feature Comedy Exchange also had its world premiere this past week, and The Hollywood Reporter cited three of our alumni as “Next Gen Canada” - producer and entrepreneur Mark Montefiore, producer Lauren Grant, whose latest feature Wet Bum is getting lots of attention at TIFF, and activist and filmmaker Slater Jewell-Kemker.
