CFC is proud to congratulate alumni Christian Sparkes, Chris AgostonJonathan Eagan (editor), Jeff Morrow (composer) and current Cineplex Entertainment Film Program Writers’ Lab resident Joel Thomas Hynes on their great success with the feature film Cast No Shadow. The film won six awards at the Atlantic Film Festival Awards on Sunday, September 14, 2014 in Halifax.

Cast No Shadow claimed Best Atlantic Feature, Best Atlantic Director for Sparkes, Best Atlantic Screenwriter for Hynes and Best Atlantic Cinematographer for Scott McClellan. The Joan Orenstein Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actress went to female lead Mary-Colin Chisholm and the David Renton Award for Outstanding Performance by an Actor went to male lead Percy Hynes White.

Although many of Sparkes’ short films – including Ten Days (2009) and The Offering (2012) – have received notice internationally, Cast No Shadow is his first feature. The film was one of eight finalists developed through the Telefilm Canada Micro-Budget Production Program.
