On Thursday, October 23, 2014, Innoversity held their Innoversity Summit 2014 Boot Camp on CFC’s campus in the new Northern Dancer Pavilion. CFC is proud to be an industry partner of the 2014 Innoversity Creative Summit.
Innoversity’s Pitch Competition Finalist teams were selected out of several Canadian media project entries by media industry jurors to participate in the intensive all-day boot camp with acclaimed instructors, including executives from Bell Media, The Movie Network, Shaw Media, along with award-winning industry veterans Anita Lee, Peter Raymont, Fred Fuchs, Ana Serrano (CFC), among many others. The Pitch Competition was produced by Powys Dewhurst, who organized the competition's speakers, mentors, companies and sponsors. Following the boot camp, the teams will continue on to do in-person pitches on Tuesday, October 28 and Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at the Toronto Reference Library before a room of judges comprised of TV, film and digital media professionals.
Throughout the day, a host of esteemed industry professionals, CFC alumni and mentors lent their time and expertise in various boot camp sessions, including The Art of Pitching, TV Scripted, TV Unscripted, Digital Media and Short Film.
The morning boot camp session focused on the art of pitching in the screen-based entertainment industry. CFC’s Chief Digital Officer, Ana Serrano, shared her insight and wisdom as one of the speakers of this session, alongside CFC alumna Anita Lee (’09), Executive Producer, NFB and Peter Raymont, Producer, White Pine Pictures.
The afternoon session of the boot camp featured a variety of breakout groups focused on various aspects of the TV, film and digital media industries.
CFC’s Manager of the TV Programs, Kryssta Mills; Emily Andras, Executive Producer, Lost Girl; and Susan Alexander, CFC Mentor and Production Executive at Shaw Media, were some of the esteemed speakers of the TV Scripted session.
Congratulations to all of the Pitch Competition Finalist teams, and we wish them luck in their in-person pitches next week!
