CFC at Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival 2013
By CFC Staff April 11, 2013 20:00
A number of films created by CFC alumni will be screening at this year's Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival, running April 25-May 5 in Toronto.
Included in the festival lineup is the opening night film, The Manor. Directed by Shawney Cohen, produced by Paul Scherzer (‘00) and edited by Seth Poulin (‘01), the film looks at Cohen's father who bought the local strip-club, “The Manor”, when he was six. Hoping to understand what happened to his nice Jewish family, the intimate tragi-comic family portrait lays bare the nature of dependence and love.
Screening as part of the Canadian Spectrum is the CFC alumni directed film, The Auctioneer—Hans Olson (‘09). Produced by David Christensen (GO WEST Project Lab '07) and edited by Dev Singh (‘09), the film follows rural Alberta auctioneer and funeral director who happens to raise horses, Dale Menzak, as he helps families leave their lives on the farm.
Congratulations to all CFC alumni with films screening at this year's festival. CFC will be represented in the following presentations:
Fight Like Soldiers Die Like Children: executive producers Peter Raymont (‘88) and Janice Dawe (‘92)
Quality Balls—The David Steinberg Story: editor Tiffany Beaudin (‘04)
Alias: editor Kye Meechan (‘08)
Ghosts In Our Machine: cinematographer Nicholas de Pencier (‘97)
Last Woman Standing: producers John Christou (‘12) and Asling Chin-Yee (‘12)
