Peter Hedges to Lead CFC Writers Workshop at Whistler Film Festival
CFC is pleased to announce that acclaimed writer and filmmaker Peter Hedges will lead the CFC Writers Workshop at the 2011 Whistler Film Festival.
Peter Hedges is a novelist, playwright, and filmmaker. He wrote both the novel and the screenplay What's Eating Gilbert Grape, and is the writer-director of Pieces of April and Dan in Real Life. He co-wrote the screenplay for About a Boy and was nominated for an Academy Award®. He wrote and directed his most recent film, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, starring Jennifer Garner, Joel Edgerton & Dianne Wiest, which will be released next August by Walt Disney Pictures.
Participating in the CFC Writers Workshop will be:
- Elyse Friedman, with THE RELATIONSHIP EXPERIMENT, a comedy about a social psychologist who hires a test boyfriend to try to figure out why she keeps getting dumped.
- Kellie Ann Benz, with HOW TO BREAK UP WITH YOUR MOTHER, a comedy that proves breaking up is hard to do, but breaking up with your mother is a bitch.
- Jane Maggs, with ST. YOU, a dramatic comedy about a young woman who is stuck in a rut and goes in search of her idolized and estranged older sister, only to find a very different person than she remembers.
Each writer will receive candid script feedback on their scripts while also privy to each other's feedback, gaining valuable insight and practical tips on the screenwriting process and what they can do on the page to strengthen their material and make their script stand out in a highly competitive marketplace.
