Biography: |
Angus John Keays Fraser is an award-winning writer/producer for the stage, television, and film.
In 1993, Fraser started having his work read regularly at Naked Angels in New York City. In 1995, Fraser’s first play, LA, enjoyed critical success and a four-week run at the 28th Street Theatre in Manhattan.
In 1996, Fraser co-wrote Kissed with director Lynne Stopkewich. The film, which introduced and stars Molly Parker, won a Special Jury award at the Toronto International Film Festival, and competed at Cannes, Berlin, Sundance, and numerous other festivals. The following year, Fraser was nominated for a Genie award in the category of writing.
In 1997, Fraser co-wrote, A Girl Is A Girl, with Reginald Harkema. The film is directed by Mr. Harkema and produced by Regent Films. It premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.
In 1999, Fraser won a New York Emmy for writing and producing, Witnesses and Wiseguys, a network special for NBC starring Nicolas Turturro.
In 2004, he wrote The Love Crimes of Gillian Guess. It premiered in Toronto and went on to screen at the Berlin Film Festival in February, 2005.
In 2006, Fraser created, wrote, and produced, Terminal City. The 10 hour television mini-series premiered on the Sundance Channel in March 2008 and garnered rave reviews. It stars Gil Bellows and features Maria Del Mar. Episodes were directed by Rachel Talalay, Lynne Stopkewich, Kari Skogland, and Stephen Surjik. Channel 4 International is handling foreign sales. Awards include: six Leos, the DGC award for Best Directing, an ACTRA award for Best Lead Actress in a mini series, and a Gemini for Best Supporting Actor.
In 2008, Fraser finished adapting A Complicated Kindness for UK based Company Pictures and Film Four. The novel won the 2004 Governor General's award for literature.
Last Fall, Fraser wrote and produced an hour long pilot for CBC/GRANADA/ITV Global called The Cult. It was directed by Kari Scogland and stars Henry Czerny and Torri Higginson. He's currently completing an eight hour mini-series entitled Insurgency (TMN and MC), and launching a new company with Jayme Pfahl called GANG OF 2.
GANG OF 2 is shooting a pilot for CBC this August. The company just picked up a Blind Pilot Deal with the CBC, and is looking at a First Look Deal with a London based network. A new slate is in the works.

Biography: |
This is Marissa Richmond’s tenth season as Casting Director-in-Residence at the Canadian Film Centre. Marissa is currently the casting director on the CTV/CBS series Flashpoint. She is also cast all 3 seasons of the highly acclaimed series Durham County produced by Back Alley Films; previous work for Back Alley includes the anthology series of female erotica Bliss, the hiphop dramatic series Drop the Beat and the critically acclaimed award winning series Straight Up. Other recent highlights of the past year include casting the Heroic Film Company series How to be Indie, as well as the Cookie Jar Pilots Mudpit as well as Decidedly Debra.
Feature work includes LOVE, SEX & EATING THE BONES, directed by Sudz Sutherland as well as the Film Centre’s Feature Film Project’s SHOW ME, directed by Cassandra Niccolau and 19 MONTHS, directed by Randall Cole. Marissa Richmond was also the casting director on the MOW's After the Harvest, directed by Jeremy Podeswa, and Lucky Girl, directed by John Fawcett, Scorn, directed by Sturla Gunnarsson and Murder Most Likely, directed by Alex Chapple. |

Biography: |
Virginia Rankin is a Creative Producer and Executive with experience both as an independent producer and broadcast executive. Most recently Virginia was Production Executive for CTV on 22 episodes of Flashpoint, a CTV Original Series which also airs on CBS, and 13 episodes of Defying Gravity (CTV/ABC). Virginia is currently developing several comedy and drama series with her own company Netherwood Film Productions. She has also worked as a Producer and Story Consultant for Capri Films, Thump, Inc., and the Canadian Film Centre.
Virginia's previous credits include the top rated and Gemini nominated Eight Days to Live (MOW) for Shaftesbury Films, CTV and Lifetime. In addition, Virginia was a creative producer on the drama series Regenesis (TMN/Movie Central) and numerous television movies, including the Murder 19c series for City/Bravo, Hemingway vs. Callaghan (CBC), In the Dark (TMN/Movie Central) and Sleep Murder (CTV) for Shaftesbury Films. Prior to joining Shaftesbury, Virginia was Senior Production Executive at CTV, acting as Executive in Charge of Production on more than forty hours of prime time drama.
Virginia has a BFA in Film Production from NYU, and has also made several short films as a writer/director. She attended the Canadian Film Centre as a Director Resident in 1991 and as a Prime Time TV Writer in 1999. She has been nominated for four Geminis.
