Patrick Cardarelli is currently Senior Director, Recovery & Resolution Planning at the Royal Bank of Canada (“RBC” or the “Bank”). In this capacity, he is responsible for the development of the Bank’s strategy and overall approach to managing through a financial crisis or severe stress situation.
Prior to assuming this role, Patrick held progressively senior positions at RBC in the areas of corporate governance, human resources, corporate strategy, and marketing strategy. Patrick joined RBC from a career in Canadian and international law and higher education. Fluent in many languages, Patrick has collaborated on a variety of bilateral and multilateral international projects and managed policy and regulatory developments in the areas of international corporate law, corporate governance, risk management, and the arts across various regions and jurisdictions.
Patrick has been involved with the arts in Canada and abroad for many years in film (documentary and short-film producer and legal advisor); arts education (Cardarelli Family Award in Art History, York University); personal and professional philanthropy (RBC Foundation) in the areas of art, dance, film, music and art restitution; and is currently on the board of the Peggy Baker Dance Project.
Patrick holds a Global Master of Laws, J.D., and M.A. (University of Toronto); LLM (Osgoode Hall Law School); Maîtrise en Droit (Sorbonne); and MBA (Kellogg-Schulich Schools of Business). He holds the Institute of Corporate Directors designation (ICD.D), in addition to the Grand Diplôme(Cordon Bleu Culinary School) and is a Membre, Ordre de La Chambre de Commerce et de l’Industrie de Paris, France.
