WORKSHOPS Directors benefit from workshops and case studies relating to technical/craft skill sets, project development, managing creative partnerships both on and off set, and the business of film and TV. These sessions are designed to inspire a greater appreciation of different approaches to filmmaking, exercise their professional and creative skills, while furthering their ability to navigate the filmmaking business.
PRODUCTION EXERCISES A director's creative and technical skills are challenged through a number of increasingly complex and professionally mounted productions, which are realized in collaboration with the writers, editors and producers of the other Labs. They also test the plausibility and dramatic strength of a director's ideas, helping to further focus their vision at a concept stage while work-shopping their pitching skills.
FEATURE DEVELOPMENT Directors are encouraged to pursue developing their feature ideas and projects through roundtable project sessions, script coverage, story edit sessions, packaging workshops and actor table readings. Sessions are designed to help directors achieve artistic clarity with their projects, bringing them either to a treatment or advanced draft script stage. Directors will work to effectively articulate what is distinct about their feature and the elements that make the project exciting within the Canadian and International marketplace.
