The Writers' Lab takes writers out of the isolated world of writing into the creative, collaborative and business aspects of professional screenwriting. Writers are writing nonstop, developing and workshopping a number of different projects through an intensely productive program. They manage the practical realities of formal development and production, what it means to be produced, and how to interact and interpret the demands of the international marketplace. Through case studies and workshops with international guests, writers also learn how to balance the business of screenwriting with their own creative process, how to develop strong professional and creative relationships, and how to best represent themselves and their work. Writers deliver a significantly expanded project portfolio and a professional package for their feature project, leaving the program with the materials needed to showcase their talent, creative vision and projects to the Canadian and International marketplace.
