The CFC introduced the Payback Awards 16 years ago as a way to give back to our community by recognizing some outstanding individuals for their contributions. All of our productions are produced with incredible generosity from our cast & crew volunteers, donated goods & services from many of our top production & post suppliers, and the unions & guilds. If our community did not support us the way they do, if they did not make a significant personal and corporate commitment to our training – then we simply could not deliver all that we do.
We are proud that Playback has supported these awards for 12 year sharing the CFC’s belief that this kind of volunteerism and dedication needs to be acknowledged in a way that spotlights those individuals and serve to further their own professional profile within our industry.
The 2011 CFC PAYBACK AWARD RECIPIENTS ARE:
Kyle Purcell: PA, Grip, Best Boy Kyle volunteered on over 25 productions this past year. He’s one of the hardest working crew members on any set, always going that extra mile, no matter how grueling the job. Whether he’s gripping or loading a truck, going on runs or helping with craft, he’s always prepared and always smiling.
Ruth Secord, Costume Designer What a privilege to have Ruth volunteer on 17 productions over the past 2+ years, with her extensive experience and amazing film & tv credits. She’s fantastic at dealing with a huge range of actors, dressing them and truly helping them evolve into their characters. She works incredibly hard, adapting to the needs of every production, which at the CFC means working with tight timelines and very little money!
Jeffrey Hanes, Production Manager Jeff volunteered on 5 productions this past year. His unflappable dedication and support was instrumental in getting each of the productions he volunteered on in the can. Whether setting up location scouts, putting together rehearsals, crewing up or helping with an enormous set build, he isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty and work crazy hours in order to get the job done.
Darcy Arthurs: Project Supervisor, Technicolor Creative Services Darcy has worked his magic on 8 of our Short Dramatic Films to date, to ensure that we have finished prints in time to screen. He truly goes above and beyond for our filmmakers, always finding the time to squeeze in all our last minute requests and fixes which tend to be plenty. And he always comes through with a smile on his face and the reassuring words, “Don’t worry, we’ll figure it out.” “It will get done” and somehow, magically, it always does! |
