How does the selection process work? All Canadian submissions are reviewed and vetted by the CFC in accordance with the terms and guidelines set by TAA. Applications and teams are then short listed by the CFC and sent on to TAA for review to move onto the TAA interview process. Final decisions are made by TAA in consultation with the CFC.
Up to 10 projects move on to TAA for review. TAA then shortlists up to 4 teams for an interview conducted by TAA.
One team will be invited to partake in the Tribeca All Access program
Please Note: All projects submitted have to have at least one team member (director/screenwriter/producer) attached who identifies him or herself as African American, Asian American, Latino, Pacific Islander, Arab American or Native American. The program also accepts applications from women writers and directors who do not fall into one of the categories above.
Does my project also need to be about underrepresented characters/topics etc? No. The characters or topics within your script do not have to be based on an underrepresented group.
Do I need a producer attached to my project? Your project does not need to have a producer attached but from a Marketplace standpoint a project does look stronger with a producer attached.
Who conducts the Interviews? A selection committee representing the TAA will be conducting interviews. Please note that the CFC is not involved in the final interview process but we do provide consultation throughout the selection process.
When will I be notified about my application status? All applicants will be notified of acceptance or not via email by March 22, 2010
Will my script and/or submission material be returned to me? We regret that we are unable to return application materials. All submitted additional materials for projects not selected are destroyed after all final notices are sent.
Does the CFC or Tribeca All Access own the rights to my project if it is selected for the program? No. We do request that should your film move into production that you include the Tribeca All Access logo in the closing credits along with the words: “A selected project of Tribeca All Access, a program of the Tribeca Film Institute.” |
