Toronto-based writer/director Cassandra Nicolaou is a graduate of the Canadian Film Centre and has been making films since 1995. Her award-winning short films, including Interviews With My Next Girlfriend and Congratulations Daisy Graham, have screened around the world and have been licensed for TV and DVD throughout North America and Europe.

In 2004 Cassandra completed her debut feature Show Me. It premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival, screened internationally and can now be seen on Netflix. Cassandra recently completed her first documentary Girls on Top. A behind-the-scenes look at an award-winning production of Caryl Churchill’s “Top Girls”, the film continues Cassandra’s explorations of female identity, power, intimacy and sexuality. Her films often portray women struggling to define themselves within a larger context – be it familial or cultural or societal – and typically delve into the intricacies of relationships between women – as mothers and daughters, friends, lovers or artistic collaborators.
